Open left engine access door (1) .

Disconnect ground cable (3) from alternator (2) .
Disconnect two harness connectors (4) and (6) .
Remove harness clip (5) .

Remove two nuts (7), guard (8) and the spacers.

Loosen two adjusting nuts (9) in order to relieve the tension on bolt (10). Back off the inside adjusting nut by 38 mm (1.5 inch).
Remove belt (10) from alternator pulley (11) .

Remove bolt (12) in order to disconnect tension rod (14) from the alternator.
Remove pivot bolt (13) and alternator (2). The weight of the alternator is 14 kg (30 lb).
Remove the nut and the washer from the alternator. Use a suitable puller and remove the drive pulley.Installation Procedure

Install the drive pulley, the nut and the washer on alternator (2). Tighten the retaining nut for the drive pulley to a torque of 110 10 N m (81 7 lb ft).

Install alternator (2) and pivot bolt (13). The weight of the alternator is 14 kg (30 lb).
Connect tension rod (14) to the alternator and install bolt (12) .

Install belt (10) on alternator pulley (11) .
Adjust the tension of the alternator belt.Note: Check the belt tension. Use a Kent-Moore Co.BT-33-109. The correct tension for a new alternator belt is 800 22 N (180 5 lb). The correct tension for a used alternator belt is 490 44 N (110 10 lb).
Tighten two adjusting nuts (9) and (10) .

Install the spacers, guard (8) and two nuts (7) .

Install harness clip (5) .
Connect two harness connectors (4) and (6). The torque for the output terminal nut is 7.1 0.8 N m (63 7 lb in). The torque for the ground terminal nut is 6.2 0.6 N m (55 5 lb in).
Connect ground cable (3) to alternator (2) .

Close left engine access door (1) .End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
