Insert the hose and coupling pre-assembly into the die group. Seat the coupling into the die group following the instructions in the "Seating Couplings into Dies" section in this manual.
Refer to NEHS0924 Tool Operating Manual for information on crimping hose couplings in specified hose machines, using the 242-3567 Variable Crimp Die Bowl
To maintain the quality of each hose assembly, measure the finished crimp diameter to make sure that it meets the correct specifications. Discard any hose assembly that does not meet crimp specifications. Note: For more information on measuring crimp diameters, refer to the "Measuring Crimp Diameters" section in this manual.
If necessary, adjust the variable crimp die bowl to make the crimp diameter of the next hose assembly as closely as possible to the specified crimp diameter. Write this new Bowl Setting number in the "Actual Setting" column of NEEG3000 Selection Chard. Using this new number should provide a more accurate crimp diameter the next time the die is used to crimp a hose coupling. Measuring Crimp Diameter
Quality control of finished crimped hose assemblies is maintained by measuring the crimp diameter. Crimp diameters can be measured using a micrometer, calipers, caliper measurement system, or a Crimputer.For more information on measuring crimp diameters, refer to NEHS0768 General Information for Hose Assembly.
Deburr the outside of the coupling to remove any sharp edges.Note: When correctly crimped, the outside covering on Thermoplastic Hose, 1543 Air Conditioning Hose should slightly protrude (bulge) into the small hole of the coupling. Discard any hose assembly that does not meet this requirement.

Measure the crimp diameter at the halfway point on the crimped area. Measure four places at the smooth area between ridges. Record and average the four readings. Discard any hose assembly that does not meet crimp specifications.

Measure the Crimp Diameter
Discard any hose assembly that does not meet crimp specifications. If crimps meet specifications, clean the inside of the hose using a hose cleaner group.Crimp Diameters
