Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Use drain valve (1) at the bottom of the hydraulic tank in order to drain the tank. Ensure that a suitable container is available for storing the hydraulic fluid.

Remove lines (3) and (4) from hydraulic tank (2).
Remove four bolts (5) from the hydraulic tank.
To remove the mounting bracket, remove the six bolts that hold the bracket.

Turn filter (8) counterclockwise in order to remove the filter.
Remove lines (7) and (9) from the filter assembly.
Remove four bolts (6) that hold the filter assembly.

Remove four bolts (10) that hold the mounting bracket for the filter assembly.

Remove bolt (14). Remove clamp (12) that holds accumulator (11). Remove pressure line (13). Remove the accumulator.
Remove one-way check valve (15). Installation Procedure

Install one-way check valve (15). Ensure that the arrow points toward the rear of the engine. Note: The accumulator must be checked prior to installation. The accumulator must also be charged after installation. Refer to the Engine News, January 1999, page 25 , "Procedures For Checking And Charging Hydrax Accumulator" for additional information.
Install accumulator (11). Install pressure line (13). Install clamp (12) that holds the accumulator. Install bolt (14).

Install the mounting bracket for the filter assembly. Install four bolts (10) that hold the mounting bracket.

Position the filter assembly. Install four bolts (6) that hold the filter assembly.
Install lines (7) and (9) on the filter assembly.
Turn filter (8) clockwise in order to install the filter.

If the mounting bracket was removed, position the bracket on the engine. Install the six bolts that hold the bracket.
Install hydraulic tank (2). Install four bolts (5) that hold the hydraulic tank.
Install lines (3) and (4) on the hydraulic tank.

Ensure that drain valve (1) at the bottom of the hydraulic tank is closed. Fill the hydraulic tank to the proper level. Refer to the Operations And Maintenance Manual for additional information.
