Be careful not to damage the carrier bearing surface on front drive shaft (1) when the front drive shaft is being lowered.
1. Lower the end of front drive shaft (1) that is supported with the nylon lifting strap. 2. Use two persons to pull front drive shaft (1) and yoke (2) from the differential pinion shaft, and lower the unit from the machine. The weight of the front drive shaft and yoke is 25 kg (55 lb). 3. Remove the bolts and straps to remove yoke (2) from the universal joint and front drive shaft (1).Install Front Drive Shaft
Be sure the drive shaft yokes are in alignment prior to installation of the front drive shaft or unusual vibration may result during machine operation.
1. Connect yoke (2) to the universal joint and front drive shaft (1) with the straps and bolts (3). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb ft). 2. Using two persons, put front drive shaft (1) and yoke (2) in position, and slide the yoke on the differential pinion shaft. 3. Fasten a nylon lifting strap to the unsupported end of front drive shaft (1) to hold it in position for the installation of the front drive shaft carrier bearing.End By:a.
