Place ring gear (7) on the floor. Use a flat bar and a suitable hoist to lift ring gear (8).
Illustration 2 g00514034Note: To avoid damage to the components and personal injury, slowly lift ring gear (8). Use the bar to maintain the balance of ring gear (8).
Install ring gear (8) to ring gear (7).
Install retaining ring (11) (not shown).

Personal injury or death can occur from heavy components falling during removal or installation.Properly support the component with a suitable lifting device during removal or installation.
Note: Ring gear (7) and (8) will drop when bolts (9) are removed. Ensure that the weight of the ring gear assembly is supported by Tooling (C) during installation.
Use Tool (C) and a suitable lifting device to support the weight of ring gear (7) of the second reduction planetary carrier and of ring gear (8) of the first reduction planetary carrier. The combined weight of the ring gears is 500 kg (1102.3 lb).

Install ring gear (8) of the first reduction planetary carrier, four retainers (10), 12 washers, and 12 bolts (9). Note: Before the installation of bolts (9), use a M12 - 1.75 tap to clean the threads in the reaction hub. Apply 4C-4030 Thread Lock Compound to the bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 100 10 N m (73.8 7.4 lb ft).
Place first reduction planetary carrier (5) on a suitable bench.

Install thrust washer (6). Note: During the installation of thrust washer (6), apply 1U-6396 O-Ring Assembly Compound between the thrust washer and first reduction planetary carrier (5). This will temporarily retain the thrust washer during the installation procedure.

Use Tool (B) and a suitable hoist to support the weight of first reduction planetary carrier (5) of the final drive. The weight of the first reduction planetary carrier of the final drive is 148.1 kg (326.50 lb).
Install first reduction planetary carrier (5) on the final drive.

Place the final drive on a suitable bench. Install O-ring seal (4). Note: Inspect the O-ring seal. Replace the O-ring seal if the seal is worn or damaged.Note: Before installation, apply 1U-6396 O-Ring Assembly Compound to the O-ring seal.

Use Tool (A) and a suitable hoist to support the weight of final drive (1). Use three M12 - 1.75x200 bolts (2) and three washers in order to attach Tool (A) to the final drive. The final drive weighs approximately 580 kg (1278.7 lb).
Install final drive (1).
Install three washers and three bolts (3). Remove Tool (A). Note: During installation, tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 100 10 N m (73.8 7.4 lb ft).End By:
Install the rear axle shafts. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Shaft - Install".
Install the rear tires and rims. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim (Rear) - Install".
