(B) Auto Programming Check
(1) Use a screwdriver to set the P/REV SELECT-MAGNETIC rotary switches to 020, and the P/REV SELECT-PHOTO rotary switches to 010. Supply power to the multitach. Disregard the digital reading.(2) Obtain a 5P9698 Calibrator (1). Remove small adapter plug (2) from the front of the calibrator. Put plug (2) in the end of the calibrator cable. Connect plug (2) to the MAG IN connector on the multitach as shown. Make sure knob (3) is in the OFF position.(3) Press PH switch (4) on the multitach. Wait until the display stops flashing and shows 0, then press MAG switch (5). The digital display should flash digits several times, then display 0. MAG INPUT light (6) and NO INPUT SIGNAL light (7) should be on.(4) Press the P/REV switch on the multitach. The display should read 20, and be flashing. Press the R/MIN switch, and the display should read 0. Turn the knob on the calibrator to the 400 OUTPUT HZ position. Make sure the BATTERY indicator needle on the calibrator is in the white portion of the scale. The NO INPUT SIGNAL light on the multitach should go out, and the number 1200 1 digit should appear on the digital readout of the multitach.(5) Press the PH switch on the multitach. The digital display should flash digits several times, then display 0. PHOTO INPUT light (8) should be on, and also NO INPUT SIGNAL light (7). If the PHOTO INPUT light is already on, nothing will happen when the PH switch is pressed.(6) Press the P/REV switch. The display should read 10, and be flashing on and off. Press the R/MIN switch; the display should read 0.(7) Connect the 6V2198 Photo Pickup Extension Cable to the PHOTO IN connector of the multitach. Connect the other end of the cable to the 6V3136 Photo Pickup. Hold the light-emitting end of the photo pickup directly in front of a fluorescent light and watch for the NO INPUT SIGNAL light to go out. Hold the pickup in the position that keeps the NO INPUT SIGNAL light out by using the magnetic base supplied with the photo pickup.(8) Observe the reading on the digital display. It should be one of the following values, depending on the alternating current used (50Hz or 60Hz). For 50Hz, the digital reading should be 600. For 60Hz, the digital reading should be 720. These readings should be within 1 digit of the number specified. However, this test is accurate only if the frequency of the AC power is correct.(9) Press the MAG switch on the multitach. The digital display should flash digits several times, then display the number 1200. If the MAG INPUT light is on when the switch is pressed, nothing will change on the digital display.(10) Press the PH switch on the multitach. The digital display should flash digits several times, then display the number 600 (50Hz) or 720 (60Hz), if the photo pickup is still properly aimed.(11) This completes the
