Do not use rectangular seals in hoses or tubes when the wall thickness around the O.D. (outside diameter) of the groove is less than 3.2 mm (.13 inch).
Hydraulic Filters
Oil mixed with water/glycol fluid causes a sludge (increase viscosity) that will not flow through the filter elements. To adapt to this condition, a plastic filter element is used in the implement circuit in place of paper filter elements. Refer to the following chart. With the new elements, filter change interval is extended to 500 service hours. Refer to the Operation, Lubrication and Maintenance of Fire Resistant Fluid Hydraulic System, SEBU5204.
Use standard element assemblies in all steering and pilot system filter housings (except on the 992). Change all paper oil filter elements every 50 service hours or after one week. Check the condition of removed filter elements and make the filter change interval shorter if the elements get too dirty during the interval used.

Make one spacer (1) and drill eight 11 mm (.422 inch) holes (4) evenly spaced, as shown. Make two adapters (2), as shown. Install adapters (2) and two new filter elements (3) into the filter housing, as shown. Brake Slack Adjuster (If equipped)

Remove seals (1), (2), and (3) from brake slack adjuster (4). Install a new 5H-5672 Seal at location (1), 4F-7387 Seal at location (2) and a 8S-5790 Seal at location (3), as shown.
