Removal Procedure
Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment.To avoid accidental engine starting, disconnect the battery cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Completely tape all metal surfaces of the disconnected battery cable end in order to prevent contact with other metal surfaces which could activate the engine electrical system.Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.
Disconnect the battery.

Place an index mark on all harness assemblies that are connected to alternator (7). Disconnect harness assembly (1) and harness assembly (2) .
Remove bolt (5) and guard assembly (6) .
Remove drive belt (8) .
Remove top bolt (3) and spacer (4). Remove lower bolt (3) .
Remove alternator (7) .Installation Procedure

Position alternator (7) on the mounting bracket. Place lower bolt (3) in position. Install upper bolt (3) and spacer (4). Tighten upper bolt (3) and spacer (4) to the standard torque. Tighten lower bolt (3) to the standard torque.
Install drive belt (8) .
Position guard assembly (6) and install bolt (5) .
Connect harness assembly (1) and harness assembly (2) to alternator (7). Use the index marks to correctly connect the harness assemblies. Tighten the nut for harness assembly (1) to a torque of 6.2 0.6 N m (55 5 lb in). Tighten the nut for harness assembly (2) to a torque of 2.25 0.25 N m (20 2 lb in).
Connect the battery.
