Disassembly:
Remove the idle screw cover and gasket.
Remove the flat plate (top cover).
Remove the governor housing retaining bolts, and the governor housing.
Remove the governor spring, two wave washers, spacer washer, and the upper spring guide seat.
IMPORTANT: FIND THE 8H9181 RISER BUMPER SPRING (12) IF IT IS NOT ON TOP THE RISER. REMOVE THE SPRING, IT WILL NOT BE USED AGAIN. A NEW SPRING WILL BE INSTALLED LATER.
Pull the 1W4640 Riser Spring Seat (17) upward carefully to expose the end of the riser cross dowel (18).
Slide the riser cross dowel out of the riser body (16) to disconnect the riser from the servo valve.
Carefully lift the riser body, washer (19), spring (20), sleeve (21) and seal (22) from the servo valve.
Remove the sleeve, spring, and washer from the riser body.
Keep Them In The Same Order As Originally Installed.
Remove the 4N1531 Plate Assembly.
Assembly
Install the 4Q8485 Bracket Assembly (23) on the 4N1531 Plate Assembly (24).
Insert the 8M8739 Stop Collar Bolt (7) through the hole in the end of the riser body.
Install the washer, spring, and sleeve into the riser body in the same order as removed.
Install the assembled riser parts on the servo valve. Make sure cross holes are aligned.
While holding the two governor flyweights in a position that places both flyweight toes down against the servo cylinder, install the dowel through the riser body, sleeve, and servo valve cross holes.
Install the riser spring seat over the riser body, and press downward until the spring seat is seated securely against the bottom shoulder on the riser body.
Check to make sure the riser is securely fastened to the servo valve and that both flyweight toes are under the riser bearing race on the riser sleeve.
Install the governor spring, wave washer, spacer washer, second wave washer, and spring guide seat in the order stated. These parts should not be stacked on the spring riser seat.
Install the 8H9181 Riser Bumper Spring over the 8M8739 Stop Collar Bolt with the large diameter end upward.
Lay the new 4N1870 Governor Housing Gasket (13) into position on the governor adapter plate.

Carefully lower the governor housing into position while guiding the upper end of the 8M8739 Stop Collar Bolt through the small hole in the governor spring guide.
Care must be taken to position the spring guide seat, and wave washers over the end of the spring seat guide without getting those parts out of their position on top the governor spring.
