Information:
start by:a) remove steering cylinders 1. Put the steering cylinder in position on tooling (A) as shown. Slowly extend the cylinder to drain the oil out of the cylinder.2. Install support (3) under the rod and fasten strap (1) to hold the rod on the support.3. Remove bolts (2) and pull the cylinder off of the rod and head. 4. Use tooling (B) to remove the nut that holds the piston on the rod.5. Remove piston (6) from the rod. Remove the seal assembly and ring from the piston.6. Remove O-ring seal and back-up ring (5) from the head. Remove head (4) from the rod. 7. Remove the seals (7) and (8) from the head. 8. Remove the seals from the rod end. Use tooling (C) to remove the bearings from the rod, cylinder and gooseneck.Assemble Steering Cylinders
1. Use tooling (C) to install bearing (1) in the rod, cylinder and gooseneck. 2. Use tooling (D) to install the seals in the rod with lip out as shown. 3. Install the inside seal in the head either way. The seal does not have a lip. Install the center seal with the lip toward the inside of the head. Install the outside seal with the lip out with tooling (D) as shown. Put clean oil on the seals. 4. Install tool (E) on the rod. Slide head (2) over tool (E) and on to the rod as shown. 5. Install back-up ring (3) on the head next to the flange. Install O-ring seal (4) on the head as shown. Put clean oil on the O-ring seal and back-up ring. 6. Install seal assembly (6) and ring (5) on the piston. 7. Put piston (7) in position on the rod and install the nut that holds the piston in place. Use tooling (B) to tighten the nut to a torque of 2000 200 lb.ft. (2700 270 N m).8. Put clean oil on the piston ring and seal assembly. 9. Push the cylinder on to the rod and head until bolts (8) can be installed. With the rod fully extended tighten bolts (8).10. Remove the cylinder from tooling (A).end by:a) install steering cylinders
