Remove the muffler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Muffler - Remove and Install".
Remove the radiator and the hydraulic oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator and Hydraulic Oil Cooler - Remove and Install".
Remove the piston pump (propel). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Propel) - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Loosen jam nut (2) and remove nut (3). Move cable assembly (1) out of the way.

Disconnect hose assembly (4) and hose assembly (6) from gear pump (5) .

Disconnect harness assembly (7), harness assembly (8), and harness assembly (9) .

Disconnect harness assembly (10) .

Remove bolt (11) and move harness assembly (12) out of the way.

Remove the bolt and ground strap (13) from the engine.

Loosen the clamps and disconnect hoses (15) from fuel tank (14) .

Remove the bolt and strap (16) .

Loosen the clamp and disconnect hose (18) from engine (17) .

Remove oil pressure sender (19) from engine (17) .
Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (A) to engine (17). Remove bolts (19) and remove engine (17) from the machine. The weight of engine (17) is approximately 124 kg (275 lb).
