New Software
M-Series Motor Graders
Power Train Software Gp (Transmission, Chassis)
423-9918 Power Train Software Gp replaces the 419-7953 Power Train Software Gp Implement Software Gp
424-0221 Implement Software Gp replaces the 398-2109 Implement Software Gp M-Series 2 Motor Graders
Implement Software Gp
423-9916 Implement Software Gp replaces the 419-7949 Implement Software Gp Notes
Note: When updating software on the M-Series Motor Graders, the Implement ECM (implement and steering) and the Transmission/chassis ECM (power train) must be updated with the latest version of software at the same time. When updating software on the M-Series 2 Motor Graders, the Implement ECM (implement), the Implement ECM 2 (steering) and the Transmission/chassis ECM (power train) must be updated with the latest version of software at the same time. Use the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) to verify that all flash files are the latest version. Refer to the Caterpillar Service Information System.Note: After flashing new software to an ECM or multiple ECMs, always reset the ECM by cycling the power supply. Turn the key switch and the disconnect switch from ON position to the OFF position. Wait 10 seconds. Then, turn the disconnect switch and the key switch to the ON position as required.Note: When using Cat ET Winflash to flash Motor Grader ECM software, if a message is displayed when attempting to connect that begins with the phrase "Unable to find an exact match for the" update the Cat ET software to the latest released version or select "OK" and continue.Note: When flashing Messenger, if the software flash aborts and will not successfully complete, reduce the data link communication load by powering down two or three ECMs that are not being flashed. This action can be accomplished by removing the system power fuses for two or three of the following controls before flashing the Messenger:
Implement ECM
Implement ECM 2
Implement ECM 3
AWD ECMConsult the machine schematic for the machine that is being flashed to determine the system power fuses that will be removed. Replace the fuses in the proper panel position once the Messenger is flashed successfully.Improvements
Power Train (Transmission/Chassis) System Software
16M - Improvement to restore full functionality of the feature that will minimize engine stall when the brakes are fully applied and the transmission modulation control (inching pedal) is not utilized.Implement System Software
All M-Series 2 Models - Enhancement to the Cat Grade Control System to minimize overcut when lowering the heel side of the blade into the surface when in automatic mode with the blade fully rotated. To ensure the best performance of the Cat Grade Control System after the updated software is flashed, perform the following calibrations:
Right side/left side blade raise solenoid calibrations
Right side/left side blade lower solenoid calibrations
Right side/left side blade float solenoid calibrations
Cross slope valve calibrations for right side / left side lift valve calibrationsAdaptability
The new software is adaptable to and effective with the serial numbers that are listed in Table 1:
