--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------Description of Change: A new main bearing is used in these engines. The oil groove in the new bearing is longer and deeper. Pockets have been added inside the bearing face at the bearing split lines. These changes provide improved oil distribution. See the illustration. The new bearing has increased thickness of bearing material, but the bearing clearance has not changed. This makes the bearing more embeddable and more conformable. This will provide a more seizure resistant main bearing. The crush height of the new bearing has been increased. This will tighten the fit between the bearing and cylinder block. The tighter fit will help prevent the formation of deposits between the bearing and block. When the new main bearings are used to replace former main bearings, a reduction of up to 40 kPa (5.8 psi) in the oil pressure reading is normal.The new replacement over and under sized crankshaft main bearings have the same changes.
