Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Label the exterior of the catalyst assemblies and the exterior of the inlet and outlet sections. Indicate the direction of the flow of exhaust through the catalytic converter.Note: When the sections are installed, maintain the original direction of the flow of exhaust. The sections must maintain the original direction of the flow of exhaust in order to comply with emissions standards.

Remove the bolts that connect cone assemblies (3) to the exhaust lines.
Remove bosses (1) .
Remove band clamps (2) .
Disconnect catalyst assemblies (5) from cone assemblies (3) . Remove the gaskets. Discard the gaskets after use. Use new gaskets for installation.
If necessary, remove pipe plugs (4) from cone assemblies (3) .Installation Procedure
Install catalyst assemblies (5) in the reverse order of removal.
Align bosses (1) in the 6 o'clock position.
Apply Tooling (A) to pipe plugs (4) . Tighten pipe plugs (4) to a torque of 29 N m (21 lb ft).
Align band clamps (2) in the 12 o'clock position. Tighten band clamps (2) to a torque of 17.0 1.2 N m (150 11 lb in).
