1. Push switch (1) on dash panel to disconnect pins from the bucket.2. Disconnect two hydraulic lines (2) and move coupler assembly (3) downward to disconnect bucket (4). The weight of the bucket is 726.4 kg (1600 lb). Install bucket in reverse order.Remove & Install Loader Bucket (416C)
Fluid Spillage ContainmentCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the breather filter cap only when the engine is stopped and the breather filter cap is cool enough to touch. Slowly loosen the breather filter cap to release any pressure in the hydraulic tank. Be cautious of hot hydraulic oil when any lines are disconnected in the hydraulic system.
Put identification on all lines, hoses, wires and tubes for installation purposes. Cap and plug all lines, hoses and tubes to prevent foreign material from entering the system. Drain all fluids in a suitable container for storage or disposal.1. Stop the engine with the bucket flat on the ground. With the engine off, move the hydraulic control to release any pressure in the hydraulic system.2. Remove retaining ring (1), washer (2) and pin (3) from the bucket tilt arm.3. Place straps and hoist around the bucket tilt cylinder and bucket arms.4. Connect Tool (A) to the straps and the machine. This will support the bucket tilt cylinder and arms when pin (5) is removed. 5. Remove retaining ring (1) and washer (4) and pin (5).6. Disconnect hoses (6).6. Remove retaining rings, washers (7) and pins (8) from the loader lift arms (9).7. Start the engine and back the machine away from the loader lift arms. The weight of the bucket is 410 kg (900 lb).8. Install in the reverse order of removal. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for all fluid capacities and the proper filling procedures.
