The electronic control module will not function properly if the control module has not been configured. Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) is used to access the configuration screen . A message on the Cat ET screen will give instructions that guide the user through the procedure. Refer to the manual that is provided with the Cat ET software for more information.Cat ET Configuration Procedure
Ensure that the key start switch is in the OFF position.
Connect the communications adapter to the computer. Note: On newer machines an updated version of the communication adapter may be needed to establish communication between the ECM and the Cat ET program. If communication cannot be established using the Comm Adapter II, attach a Comm Adapter III between the computer and service port connection. Important: When changing to a different model of Comm Adapter, use the tool bar on the computer screen to configure the computer.
Connect the communications adapter to the diagnostic service tool connector.
Turn the key start switch to the RUN position.
Start Cat ET.
Cat ET will initiate communications with the ECM modules on the machine.
Select the appropriate ECM.
Go to the "Service" Menu. Select "Configuration". Click "OK". Machine operations or characteristics can now be changed for the applicable attachments, machine arrangement, or operator preferences.
