To prevent possible personal injury, never visually inspect the vent holes or valves to see if grease or oil is coming out of them. Make sure the vent holes are clean before the tension is released on the track. Watch the front roller frame to see that it moves.
Correct adjustment for a standard machine gives a dimension (A) of 115 10 mm (4.5 .4 in). Correct adjustment for a machine with carrier rollers (C) is 65 10mm (2.5 .4 in). Correct adjustment for a low ground pressure (LGP) machine is 130 10 mm (5.0 .4 in). This is the sag (curve) in the track between the sprocket and front idler. On the machines with carrier rollers it is the (curve) between the front idler and carrier roller, and final drive sprocket and carrier roller. Procedure to Check Track Sag
1. Move the machine forward for a distance that is 2 times the length of the machine. Let it come to a stop without use of the brakes. Lightly power forward with the blade in float position to assure no excess track slack remains between rear idler and sprocket.2. Put a tight line between the grouser tips at the sprocket and front idler.3. Measure the distance (A) from the line to the lowest point of sag of the grouser tips. Machines equipped with carrier roller measure the sag (C) (curve) in the track between the front idler and carrier roller, and final drive sprocket and carrier roller. Average the two measurements.4. Measure the sag when the machine is in its working condition. If dirt and debris is present in its working condition, then measure the sag when normal dirt and debris is present in the track and its components.
Do not tighten the track if dimension (B) is 125 mm (4.9 in) or internal damage to recoil group will occur.
