The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
When the delete/trash button located in any of the CGC calibration tables is pressed rapidly without pausing, the Cat® Grade Control calibration values located in the Boom and Stick Sensor tables can become shifted within the allocated memory. When this occurs, the values in the table cannot be deleted via the display, Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET), or over-written with a new calibration value. When attempting to run a calibration over a pre-existing value, the calibration will abort with a $0009 calibration error. Any slot within the calibration table showing "Not Used" typically indicates a valid (unshifted) calibration table.Solution
Caterpillar is working on a permanent software fix but has formulated a temporary corrective action that allows the Boom and Stick Calibration values to be cleared. A CGC repair file has been developed to flash onto the Machine ECM and the file realigns the allocated memory for Grade Control parameters only.Have your Technical Communicator generate a DSN Ticket and have it directed to Cat® Grade Control group for assistance in determining use case and to receive CGC Calibration Repair File.The process for using the CGC Calibration Repair File is outlined below:CGC Calibration Repair File: 300_ECN_HYD_XXX_XXX_000(031)_0000300-02.flsCGC Calibration Repair File P/N: 000-0300-02Perform the following procedure flashing CGC Calibration Repair File:

Cat® depth and slope machine software upgrade worksheet
Record all machine dimensions, tool programming, and bucket measurement. Refer to Illustration 1.
Flash CGC Calibration Repair File on the Machine ECM (B5M1).
When flash completes, wait for 3 minutes.
Key OFF the machine, and wait for 2 minutes.
Key ON the machine.
Flash original/desired machine software.
Key OFF the machine, and wait for a minute.
Key ON the machine.
Configure the machine dimensions and worktools.
Select part numbers for Boom, Stick, Idler Link, and Power Link.
Configure worktool types in "Tool Programming and Bucket Dimensions" within Worktools
Perform all Grade Control Calibrations per normal processes.
