Adjust Chain
Illustration 75Chain assembly must have 50 12 mm (2.00 0.50 in) sag between the return rollers. The slats must be parallel to both the headshaft and the footshaft. The chains must have equal sag.
Illustration 761. Loosen nut (1) on both sides of the headshaft.2. Lengthen the screw to tighten the chain. Shorten the screw to loosen the chain. Turn nut (2) the same amount on both sides of the headshaft.3. Tighten nut (1).Adjust Speed
Illustration 77Headshaft speed is controlled by a lever attached to the pump swashplate. The lever is moved by a threaded rod which is held by two nuts. The rod is located on top of the pump at the flywheel end of the engine.Headshaft speed is set to 70 rpm at the factory. This produces a slat speed of 233 feet per minute. Operate the elevator at the lowest practical speed because slat and liner wear is proportional to slat speed.
The maximum headshaft speed which can be attained is 94 rpm. However, running the elevator at headshaft speeds above 70 rpm is not recommended. Operation of the elevator at a higher headshaft speed than the factory setting can cause damage to the conveyor motor.
Illustration 781. Stop the engine.2. Loosen nut (1) and nut (2).3. Move rod IN (A) to decrease speed or OUT (B) to increase speed.4. Tighten nut (1) and nut (2).5. Dismount machine before starting engine.6. Start engine and loader.7. Repeat Steps 1 through 6 until speed is adjusted to maintain desired throughput.Measure Chain Extension
Illustration 79Measure the chain over a 10-pitch length. When the chain length reaches 1057 mm (41.6 in), replace the chain.
