Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Replace the fuel filter before the scheduled interval if any of the following occur:
Fuel pressure is low.
Engine performance is poor.
Open the left side engine compartment.

The in-line filter is located on the left side of the machine above the tire.
Loosen the clamps.
Remove the fuel filter and discard the fuel filter. Allow the fuel to drain into a suitable container.
Install a new in-line filter.
Tighten the clamps.
Prime the fuel system. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime" section for the correct procedure.
Start the engine.
Check for leaks.
Close the engine hood.
