The ARD combustion head contains one-time use components, Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Combustion Head Group (ARD) - Remove and Install - Clean Emissions Module" for the proper procedure to remove the ARD combustion head.

(1) Fouled slot
(2) ARD fuel nozzle Note: Soot accumulation is normal. Slot fouling is defined as more than half of the inner row slots being blocked. Partially blocked inner row slots are normal and do not affect regeneration performance.
Inspect the inner row of swirl plate slots on the ARD combustion head for any fouling or blockage.

Cleaning the swirl plate with Tool (A)
Note: Do not use any tooling to clean the ARD fuel nozzle. Attempting to clean the ARD fuel nozzle will result in damage to the nozzle.
If fouled slots are found, begin by using Tool (A) to remove the soot deposit from the swirl plate.

Ensure all the slots are fully open by using Tool (B) to clear any existing deposits that may be lodged in the slots.

Removing carbon deposits using Tool (C)
Use Tool (C) to remove the remaining carbon deposits from the plate. Note: Do not brush the ARD fuel nozzle.Note: No cleaning chemicals are required for this procedure.
Reinstall the ARD combustion head. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Combustion Head Group (ARD) - Remove and Install - Clean Emissions Module" for the proper procedure.
