Information:


At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
2. Remove the radiator fill cap slowly, to release the pressure in the cooling system. Drain the coolant from the radiator in a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the cooling system is 183 liters (47.6 U.S. gal).
Hot engine oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot engine oil or components to contact the skin. Be sure that the engine and components are cool enough to touch with your bare hand prior to performing any service work.
It is not necessary that the engine oil be drained. It is necessary however to insure that no contaminants enter the lubrication system while the oil cooler is being removed or replaced. Take precautions to insure that no contaminants enter the lubrication system.3. Drain the oil from the transmission oil cooler in a suitable container for disposal. 4. Remove two hose assemblies (1) from the bottom of the transmission oil cooler. 5. Remove six bolts (2) that hold bonnet (4) to the engine block.6. Remove six bolts (3) that hold bonnet (4) to the transmission oil cooler.7. Remove bonnet (4) and the gasket (not shown) located between the engine block and the transmission cooler. 8. Remove O-ring seal (5) from bonnet (4). 9. Fasten a lifting sling and a hoist to transmission oil cooler (6) as shown. 10. Mark and identify four bolts (9) for installation purposes. Remove two bolts (8) that hold fuel filter (7) to transmission oil cooler. Place fuel filter and base aside for transmission cooler core removal. A small amount of oil and coolant will drain out of the transmission oil cooler at this time. Position a suitable container under the transmission oil cooler to collect the fluid. 11. Remove four bolts (9).12. Remove transmission oil cooler (6) and gasket (not shown). The weight of transmission oil cooler (6) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the transmission oil cooler. 13. Carefully clean the tube bundles in transmission oil cooler (6) with a 3.2 mm (.125 in) diameter rod. 14. Install a new gasket between bonnet (10) and transmission oil cooler (6). Install four bolts (9). 15. Install fuel filter and base (7) and two bolts (8). Tighten bolts (8) and (9) to a torque of 105 20 N m (77 15 lb ft). 16. Install a new O-ring seal (5) on bonnet (4). Lubricate the bore and O-ring seal (5) lightly with glycerin. 17. Install new gaskets at engine block and at transmission cooler core. Install bonnet (4) as shown.18. Install six bolts (3) and six bolts (2). Tighten six
