Put toric stabilizer (4) on shaft (1), as shown.

Put installation tool (9) on shaft seal ring (2) with toric ring (3). Lower the rings into a container of Isopropyl Alcohol until all surfaces of toric ring (3) are wet.

Use installation tool (9) in order to position shaft seal ring (2) and toric ring (3) squarely on shaft (1), as shown. Use even pressure in order to slide toric ring (3) and shaft seal ring (2) down shaft (1) until installation tool (9) contacts the end of shaft (1) .

Check assembled height (A) all the way around the circumference. The difference in height around the ring must not be more than 0.8 mm (0.032 inch). Use gauge (13) in order to check the assembled height.

If small adjustments are necessary, do not push directly on shaft seal ring (2). Use installation tool (9) in order to make any adjustments.Note: Toric ring (3) can twist during installation if the ring is not completely wet or if there are burrs on shaft (1) .Note: Toric rings (3) must never slip on the ramps of either shaft seal ring (2) or shaft (1). Once the rings are in place, the rings must only rotate on the ramps.

Put rubber O-Ring (12) on retainer seal ring (11). Make sure that rubber O-Ring (12) is not twisted.

Lubricate rubber O-Ring (12) for easier assembly into retainer (10) .

Check assembled height (B) all the way around the circumference. The difference in height around the ring must not be more than 0.3 mm (0.012 inch).

Clean seal ring faces (8) of seal rings (2) and (11). No particles of any kind are permissible on the sealing surfaces.

Put a thin film of clean oil on the seal faces. Use an applicator in order to distribute the oil evenly. Be careful not to get any oil on the toric rings.

Select correct alignment sleeve (14). Refer to Special Instruction, SEHS8484, "Tool and Spec Charts for Inverted and Conventional Duo-Cone Seal Kits" for the appropriate alignment sleeve.
Make sure that rubber O-Ring (15) is installed in retainer (10). Insert alignment sleeve (14) into the bores of retainer (10) and retainer seal ring (11). Slip the entire assembly over shaft (1) .
Move the parts toward each other.
Securely fasten the parts, once the parts are in place. Remove alignment sleeve (14) .
