Remove rear axle shafts according to KENR8715.
Remove rear final drive, brake, & wheel groups according to KENR8715.
Raise assembly to vertical position so the group can be disassembled vertically.

Remove the following in this order:
1) Final Drive Cover
2) Outer Sun Gear
3) Outer Planetary Gear Set
4) Ring Gear
5) Inner Planetary Gear Set

Remove the four lubrication tubes in order to access the retainer plate.

Remove the retainer plate. The bolts used to attach the retainer plate cannot be reused.
Keep the shim pack. It will need to be used during assembly.
Remove the mid-axle support housing.

The bearing will note be reused. Keep the retaining rings.
The housings from trucks ERM001-ERM221 will not be reused.
The housings from trucks ERM222-ERM999 should be modified using the directions above.
Verify that the 3E-9400 Retaining Ring is inserted into the housing to hold the bearing in place.

Apply silicone to the flanges of the new housing. Use either Loctite Superflex OR Ultra Blue 587. Apply a 7 mm (0.25 inch) bead of silicone on the entire face of all three surfaces (see arrows).

Install the retainer plate, shim pack, and new housing using the 177-9755 Bolts and 9X-8399 Washers. Use the following torque procedure:
1) Install 10 bolts equally spaced. Tighten to 450 Nm +/- 50 Nm (330 lb-ft +/- 40 lb-ft) using an alternate sequence.
2) Install the remaining 10 bolts. Tighten to 800 Nm +/- 100 Nm (590 lb-ft +/- 75 lb-ft) plus a 90 degree rotation.
3) Tighten bolts in Step 1 to 800 Nm +/- 100 Nm (590 lb-ft +/- 75 lb-ft) plus a 90 degree rotation.
Clean excess silicone that is pressed out when housing bolts are tightened.
Reattach the 4 lubrication tubes.

Install the inner planetary group. Verify that the planetary pin holes are aligned with the lubrication tubes by using 1/2 inch dowels or rods during installation.

Install the following in this order:
1) Ring Gear
Replace the 7X-4781 O-ring when installing the ring gear.
2) Outer Planetary Gear Set
3) Thrust Washer (301-1514)
3) Outer Sun Gear
4) Final Drive Cover
Replace the 150-8791 Seal when installing the final drive cover.
When installing the final drive cover, apply Loctite 247 to the bolts and tighten to 320 Nm +/- 40 Nm (240 lb-ft +/- 30 lb-ft)

Attach rear final drive, brake, and wheel group according to KENR8715.
The 147-0169 Bolts will need to be replaced with new bolts when installing the assembly. Replace the 314-4127 Toric Ring when installing the final drive, brake and wheel group to the machine.
Modify the 392-6516 Axle Shaft and attach the new 8C-3103 O-ring. Lubricate the o-ring with 60 wt oil or other lubricant to help keep o-ring in place during assembly.
Attach the new Rear Axle Shaft according to KENR8715. Replace the 180-4365 O-ring when installing the axle cap on the final drive cover.
