Remove the main drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Main Drive Shaft - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Remove the floorplate and the floor mat.
Drain the oil from the torque converter into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Disconnect hose assemblies (1) and (2) from the torque converter and reposition.

Disconnect harness assembly (3) and the mounting brackets from the torque converter. Reposition harness assembly (3).

Remove bolts (4) and reposition guard assembly (5).

Remove bolts (6) and reposition bracket assembly (7).

Disconnect hose assemblies (8), (9), (10), and (11) from the torque converter.

Remove tube assembly (12) and (13).

Remove elbow (14).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to the cab. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to torque converter (15). The weight of torque converter (15) is approximately 159 kg (350 lb). Remove bolts (16).

Use Tooling (C) to separate torque converter (15) from the engine. Remove torque converter (15). Remove O-ring seal (17).
