FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENTCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Product Guide, NENG2500", for Tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.Start By:a. remove hoist cylinders
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the breather filter cap only when the engine is stopped and the breather filter cap is cool enough to touch. Slowly loosen the breather filter cap to release any pressure in the hydraulic tank. Be cautious of hot hydraulic oil when any lines are disconnected in the hydraulic system.
Put identification on all lines, hoses, wires and tubes for installation purposes. Cap and plug all lines, hoses and tubes to prevent foreign material from entering the system. Drain all fluids in a suitable container for storage or disposal. 1. Disconnect three hose assemblies (1) and reposition out of the way. 2. Remove bolts and nuts (3) and disconnect two electrical connections (4).3. Remove lights (2). 4. Remove bolt nut washer and spacer (5). 5. Attach straps and a suitable hoist to dump body assembly (6). Apply sufficient tension to lifting straps to relieve pressure on the pin assemblies (7). 6. Use Tool (A) and remove the pin assembly (7). Note the location and quantity of shims when pin (7) is removed.7. Repeat step 6 for opposite side of body then remove the body assembly (6). For installation of the body group, reverse the removal steps. If the shims are removed in steps 6 and 7, and the shims are damaged, re-shim the body using the following procedure.8. Position the body over the rear chassis pivot points so an equal gap is noted on either side of pivot and inside face of body pivot plates.9. Install shims between the body pivot plates and rear chassis pivot. To eliminate side to side movements. Then install pin and secure.End By:a. install hoist cylinders Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for all fluid capacities and the proper filling procedures.
