Remove eight bolts (2) and remove end cover (3) from housing (1) .

Remove cylinder block (35) from the center pin.

Remove Tooling (A) from cylinder block (35) .

Measure the thickness of Tooling (A). This is dimension Z. Subtract 0.20 0.05 mm (.008 .002 inch) from dimension Z. This is the dimension that is needed to select the correct shim.

Remove three screws (42). Remove center pin (43) and spring (37). Remove retainer plate (44) .

Note: Install the marked sides of piston rings (45) opposite the ball end of the piston.
Install piston rings (45) on seven pistons (41) .

Apply 9S-3263 Sealant to the threads of 14 screws (42) .
Install seven pistons (41) and center pin (43). Use 14 screws (42) in order to install retainer plate (44). The torque for 14 screws (42) is 8.9 1 N m (79 8.8 lb in). Install spring (37) in the center pin.

Install shim (38) that was determined in Step 14.i in cylinder block (35). Use a small amount of petroleum jelly to hold shim (38) in place during installation.

Install cylinder block (35) on the center pin.

Install seal (34) in the housing.

Use eight bolts (2) in order to install end cover (3) on housing (1). Rotate the shaft assembly as bolts (2) are being tightened. The torque for eight bolts (2) is 87 6 N m (65 5 lb ft).

Note: When adjustment screw (30) and nut (31) are installed Dimension (A) must be 17 1 mm (0.67 0.04 inch). Dimension (A) is the distance from the end of the adjustment screw to the face of the nut. When adjustment screw (33) and nut (32) are installed Dimension (B) must be 21 1 mm (0.83 0.04 inch). Dimension (B) is the distance from the end of the adjustment screw to the face of the nut.
Install adjustment screws (30) and (33) in the housing and tighten nuts (31) and (32). Install the caps on the adjustment screws.

Install Tooling (B) on shaft assembly (39). Install seal (48) and plate (47). Install retaining ring (46) in housing (1) .
Install O-ring seal (40) on housing (1) .End By: Install the propel motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Motor (Drum Propel) - Install".
