Machine Lifting/Tie-down Information
Improper lifting or tie-down can allow load to shift and cause injury or damage.
For basic machine specifications, see Specifications and Model Views in the General Section. Weights and instructions given herein apply to units manufactured by Caterpillar Inc.* CS-431C 6243 kg (13,750 lb) w/o cab or blade* CS-431C (Asphalt) 6491 kg (14,280 lb) w/o cab or blade* CS-433C 6379 kg (14,050 lb) w/o cab or blade* CP-433C 6628 kg (14,600 lb) w/o cab or bladeUse properly rated cables and slings for lifting.Position the crane or lifting device for a level machine lift. Spreader bar widths should be sufficient to prevent contact with machine. 1. Install the steering frame lock pin to hold the front and rear frames rigid. Remove pin (1), lower steering frame lock pin (2) then reinsert pin (1). 2. Attach two lifting cables to right and left rear lifting eyes. These lifting eyes are identified on the machine by a hook symbol. 3. Attach two lifting cables to the right and left front lifting holes. These lifting holes are identified on the machine by a hook symbol.4. Connect the four lifting cables to spreader bars centered over the machine.5. Lift and move the machine. 6. When the machine is in position, block in front of the drum and behind the tires.
Typical Example7. Support the drum yoke on each side with suitable blocks or jack-stands. 8. Secure the machine with tie-downs. Holes are identified on the machine by a tie-down symbol.9. Refer to Machine Shipping in this section, if transporting or shipping machine, for more details.Machine Shipping
For basic machine shipping specifications, see Specifications and Model Views in the General Section.
Obey all state and local laws governing the weight, width and length of a load.Observe all regulations governing wide loads.Make sure the cooling system has proper antifreeze if moving machine to a colder climate.
Investigate the travel route for overpass clearances. Make sure there will be adequate clearance for the machine being transported. To prevent the machine from slipping while loading or shifting in transit, remove ice, snow or other slippery material from the loading dock and transport vehicle before loading. 1. Block the trailer or rail car wheels before loading (trailer shown).
Steering Frame Lock Pin Shown In Locked Position.2. After the machine is in position, install the steering frame lock pin to hold the front and rear frames rigid. Remove pin (1), lower steering frame lock pin (2) then reinsert pin (1).3. Lower the leveling blade (if equipped).4. Apply the parking brake.5. Turn the engine start switch key to OFF and remove the key.6. Inflate tires to 138 kPa (20 psi) for shipping.7. Block and tie-down machine. Refer to Machine Lifting/Tie-down Information in this section for details.8. Turn the disconnect switch key off and remove the key.9. Lock access covers and attach any vandalism protection (if equipped).10. Cover the exhaust opening. Turbocharger (if equipped) damage can result
