Boom, Stick and Bucket Operation
Do not tilt the bucket back when the boom is raised. The material may spill over the spill guard and fall into the operator's compartment.Usually, this problem occurs when the boom is in the highest position. However, it can occur even with the boom in a lower position.Drop down any material protruding from the bucket. Use caution to avoid spilling material.Never swing the bucket over the driver's compartment of the dump truck and the worker's head.
Close and tip the bottom dump bucket forward after dumping before stick-in operation.Otherwise, the linkage may force the bucket against the stoppers when the stick is moved in, causing oil discharge from the bucket line relief valve. This could reduce the machine life due to increased load and high oil temperature.Never perform dozing or rock scraping with the bottom dump bucket open. Damage of bucket pins and reduced shell life could result.
Maximum digging efficiency can be obtained working over the front, with the upper structure in a position up to 30 degrees on either side of the direction of travel. Working within this range also provides maximum track roller life by avoiding side thrust.1. Start at the bottom of a pile. Keep the bucket above grade and close to the machine to obtain the greatest digging forces.2. Load the bucket as close to the travel direction of the tracks as possible. For a greater crowding force, move the stick in and move the machine closer to the bucket. Then crowd with the stick. 3. For the best penetration, tilt the bucket back or move the stick out while raising the boom. 4. Engage the boom raise control as soon as the bucket is full. Engage the swing control when the bucket clears the pile.5. To decrease cycle time, load over the open tail section of a truck.6. Use controls smoothly to avoid spilling material. Dump with the wind to your back to keep dust from obscuring your vision. 7. Using bottom dump bucket decreases cycle time.8. Tip the dump bucket forward after dumping, to prevent the bucket from forcing against the stops when the stick is moved in.
