AllThe color of certain O-ring seals is changing. The change began in late 2002.Traditionally, the material for 75 Duro Fluoroelatomer (FKM) was brown, and the material for 90 Duro FKM was green. The brown and green colors were the result of a mineral filler.A different filler is now used in the material for several part numbers. Because the new filler is carbon black, the 75 and 90 Duro FKM are also changing to black. Because of this change, the assumption for the colors of O-ring seals will no longer be applicable. Previously, green O-ring seals were for water and brown O-ring seals were for oil. Because of the change, all of the O-ring seals will be black.The part numbers of these O-ring seals will not change. The properties of the O-ring seals will not change. During the transition to the new material, you may receive orders that contain the former color and the new color. The former O-ring seals and the new O-ring seals are completely interchangeable.Initially, the new FKM material is being used in the following part numbers:

8C-3089 O-Ring Seal
5P-0840 O-Ring Seal
3P-0650 O-Ring Seal
142-6217 O-Ring Seal
6V-3917 O-Ring Seal
109-7411 O-Ring Seal
185-3241 O-Ring Seal
6V-5043 O-Ring Seal Eventually, all Caterpillar 75 Duro FKM and 90 Duro FKM O-ring seals will be changed by the new material which is black in color. The transition of the remaining part numbers is expected to be complete by early 2004.
