Apply Tooling (E) onto the taper of the strut rod. Use Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to install spindle (4) onto suspension cylinder (5). The weight of suspension cylinder (5) is approximately 1905 kg (4200 lb). The weight of spindle (4) is approximately 879 kg (1938 lb).

Position bracket assembly (6) and install bolts (5). Repeat this step for the opposite side of the spindle.

Install Tooling (A).

Remove Tooling (C).

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to install retainer plate (2). The weight of retainer plate (2) is approximately 65 kg (143 lb).

Install three of bolts (1) that are separated by 120°. Remove Tooling (B). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 203 27 N m (150 20 lb ft).
Use Tooling (F) in order to measure the gap between retainer plate (2 ) and the strut rod in three locations. Average the three measurements and record the result as Dimension (X).
Remove bolts (1). Use Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device in order to remove retainer plate (2). The weight of retainer plate (2) is approximately 65 kg (143 lb).

Install a number of shims (3) that is equal to Dimension (X) minus 10.00 0.03 mm (0.394 0.0012 inch). Note: The thickness of shims (3) must not be less than 0.64 mm (0.030 inch).

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device in order to install retainer plate (2). The weight of retainer plate (2) is approximately 65 kg (143 lb).

Install bolts (1). Remove Tooling (A). Install the remaining bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 1125 50 N m (830 37 lb ft). Note: The expected clearance between the shim pack and the retainer plate is 0.00 to 0.13 mm (0.000 to 0.005 inch).End By:
