key start data and engine speed data that is coming from the power train ECM is not correct. Check to see if a data link fault (CID 0248 FMI 12) exists. If a data link fault is present then correct the fault. If the fault is not present check the power train ECM for proper operation and active service codes.

YES - The CID 0248 FMI 12 is NOT present. STOP.
NO - The CID 0248 FMI 12 is present. Correct this fault. Go to Testing and Adjusting, "CAT Data Link Failed - Test".
