This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI3215" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI3215" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

The wrong time constants may have inadvertently been loaded into the slope control box during manufacture of the Topcon Slope Control used on certain AP-650B, AP-1000B and AP-1055B Asphalt Pavers; and on certain Barber-Greene BG-225C, BG-260C, and BG2455C Asphalt Pavers manufactured by Caterpillar. An indication of wrong time constants can cause hunting of the slope tow point cylinder. Group 1 also needs rework of the grade control.

The 1082398 Topcon Control Boxes used on certain AP-650B, AP-1000B, AP-1050B, and AP-1055B Asphalt Pavers; and on certain Barber-Greene BG-225C, BG-245C, BG-260C, and BG2455C Asphalt Pavers manufactured by Caterpillar may have the ramping and deadband turned off.

Rework Procedure
Group 1 Affected Product
Suspect slope control boxes include serial numbers 2012-2031 and 2068-2467. The serial number is located on the side of the slope box. An indication of wrong time constants can cause hunting of the slope tow point cylinder.
Suspect serial numbers can be checked using the following test procedure.
1. Install the control boxes and set the screed on the ground.2. Turn the ignition switch on and select the slope position of the control system and then select survey.3. With the park brake applied start the engine and increase the engine rpm to maximum.4. Turn the screed vibratory switch on the operators station and the screed console to the on position.5. Speed dial at one half, select pave position and move the propel lever forward slowly.6. Observe the slope readout, if it is fluctuating 2-3% the slope time constants may be set improperly.7. If the slope readout is only fluctuating .1 to .2% the slope box is operating properly.Contact your local Topcon Dealer for repairs if the control system was purchased from Topcon.
