5230 (7LL64-Up) ExcavatorsDescription of Change: An anti-corrosive coating is applied to the inlet valve springs in the air compressor groups in the above machines powered by 3508 (7YG), 3512 (4WJ) and 3516 (2PK, 54Z) Engines. The anti-corrosive coating helps prevent water contamination, corrosion and pitting of the spring surface. Pitting of the spring surface could become initiation points for fatigue fractures. Water contamination does not originate from normal operation of these engines. Moisture from engine washing or long term storage may enter the air compressor. Only air compressors with water contamination will potentially have low hour spring failures. The anti-corrosive coating will help eliminate this problem.
Adaptable To: Anti-corrosive coating is applied to the inlet valve springs within the 110-2751 Air Compressor Group (Basic) (750) and 117-0070 Air Compressor Group (Basic) (550) effective with the above machine engines. The anti-corrosive coated springs are available within the 7E-8926 Cylinder Head Kit (TU-FLO 550 and 750 Air Compressors). The anti-corrosive springs are not serviced separately.
