Removal Procedure
Personal injury or death can occur from heavy components falling during removal or installation.Properly support the component with a suitable lifting device during removal or installation.
Personal injury can result from the sudden release of high pressure oil.Be sure the engine has been shut off for a minimum of five minutes to ensure that the accumulator pressure is zero.The accumulator is filled with dry nitrogen. Do not loosen or remove the valve or the cap from the top of the accumulator.
Pressurized System!Hydraulic accumulators contain gas and oil under high pressure. DO NOT disconnect lines or disassemble any component of a pressurized accumulator. All gas pre-charge must be removed from the accumulator as instructed by the service manual before servicing or disposing of the accumulator or any accumulator component.Failure to follow the instructions and warnings could result in personal injury or death.Only use dry nitrogen gas to recharge accumulators. See your Cat dealer for special equipment and detailed information for accumulator service and charging.
Personal injury or death can result from escaping fluid under pressure.Escaping fluid under pressure, even a very small pin-hole size leak, can penetrate body tissue and cause serious injury and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated immediately by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak.
Do not allow any dirt or foreign material to get into the hydraulic system during assembly, connection of lines, when components are filled with fluid, or during any maintenance operation.
Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual , "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".
Shutdown and de-energizing the machine. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Electrical Shutdown and Voltage Discharge".
Release the system pressure from the service brake accumulators. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "System Pressure Release"
Discharge the pressure from the accumulators. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS5464, "Accumulator Discharging and Charging Procedures". Front Brake Accumulator

Attach a suitable lifting device onto front brake accumulator (1). The weight of rear brake accumulator (1) is approximately 54 kg (120 lb). Disconnect hose assembly (2). Loosen clamp (3). Remove front brake accumulator (1). Rear Brake Accumulator

Attach a suitable lifting device onto rear brake accumulator (4). The weight of rear brake accumulator (4) is approximately 54 kg (120 lb). Disconnect hose assembly (5). Loosen clamps (6). Remove rear brake accumulator (4). Supply Brake Accumulator

Attach a suitable lifting device onto supply brake accumulator (7). The weight of supply brake accumulator (7) is approximately 54 kg (120 lb). Disconnect hose assembly (8). Loosen clamps (9). Remove supply brake accumulator (7). Installation Procedure
Install accumulator (7), accumulator (4), and accumulator (1) in the reverse order of removal.
