At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped, and the cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
1. Release the pressure in the cooling system by slowly loosening the filler cap on the radiator. Drain the coolant from the radiator.

928G2. Loosen the hose clamps and remove two heater hoses (1).3. Remove hose (2) from bottom of the water pump.4. Release tension on alternator belt (3).
Typical Example5. Loosen hose clamp (4) from the hose on top of water pump (5).
Typical Example6. Remove bolt (6) and disconnect alternator (7) from water pump (5).7. Remove bolt (8) and loosen bolt (9) from belt tensioner (10).8. Loosen belt (11) and remove.9. Remove four bolts (12) and water pump (5). Check and replace if necessary, the two O-ring seals on back side of water pump (5). Install the water pump in the reverse order of removal.10. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance for the correct filling procedure.
