The Diesel Oxidation catalyst (DOC ) must be inspected periodically to ensure safe and continuous operation of the engine. Failure to identify housing cracks and loose bricks may result in shortened life of the DOC. Take proper safety precautions before inspecting or repairing DOCs.Note: Failure to repair a DOC may result in shortened life of the DOC.
Remove the DOC insulated cover and inspect for the following conditions:
External housing seam cracking or separation
Inlet flange cracking or separation
Exhaust bellows damage
Mounting feet cracking or damageCatalyst Brick Inspect
Note: Failure to replace a damaged DOC may result in non-compliance with emissions regulations.
Lift the rain cap and inspect for the following conditions:
Catalyst brick cracking or damage
Loose catalyst bricksNote: Catalyst bricks may become loose after long hours of operation or the mounting structure becomes compromised.Each installation application is different. The differences depend on the following factors:
Geometry of supporting structure
DOC mounting feet isolators
