Information:

1. Tilt the cab, the cab riser and the cab brush guard as a unit.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic circuits (the boom, the stick and the grapple) before any of the hydraulic lines or any of the components are disconnected or removed.
2. Release the pressure in the implement hydraulic circuits (the boom, the stick, and the grapple) before any of the hydraulic lines or any of the components are disconnected or removed. Release the pressure as follows: a. Shut off the engine and place key in the "ON" position. Put the hydraulic activation control lever in the "UNLOCK" position.b. Move the control levers for the boom, the stick and the grapple to all full stroke positions. This will release any pressure that might be present in the pilot system.c. Return the key to "OFF" position.d. Slowly loosen the pressure valve cap on the hydraulic tank, and release the pressure.e. Tighten the pressure valve cap on the hydraulic tank.f. The pressure in the hydraulic system has been released, and the hydraulic lines and the components can be removed. 3. Attach Tooling (A), a suitable lifting device and a hoist to secure the cab and the cab riser assembly. 4. Put identification marks on the seventeen hydraulic hose assemblies (2). Disconnect the hose assemblies from the underside of the cab. Put plugs in the ends of the hose assemblies to prevent oil loss and to keep contaminants out of the hydraulic system. 5. Remove retainer clips (3) that secure the electrical wiring harnesses and the heating and the air conditioning hoses to the base of the cab.
Regulations prohibit the venting of any of the refrigerant in the atmosphere. Refer to Caterpillar publication SENR3334, SENR5664 and NEDG5065 for the proper procedure, the equipment and the tools to reclaim the refrigerant from any Caterpillar machine.Always wear goggles when working on the air conditioning systems. The air conditioning system is under pressure at all times, engine running or not. Escaping refrigerant R-12 (CCI2F2 Dichlorodifluoromethane) can cause freezing of the human flesh.Do not smoke while working on the air conditioning systems. INHALING REFRIGERANT R-12 OR REFRIGERANT R-134A THROUGH ANY SMOKING MATERIAL, ALTHOUGH NOT FLAMMABLE, CAN GENERATE LETHAL PHOSGENE GAS AND CAUSE VIOLENT ILLNESS OR DEATH. ALSO, HEAT MUST NEVER BE APPLIED TO A CHARGED SYSTEM. See Air Conditioning And Heating Service Manual, Form No. SENR3334 and SENR5664, for more information on the removal and the installation of the lines and the refrigerant from the system.
6. Remove the freon from the air conditioning system using a freon reclaimer.
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to release the relieve pressure.
