This document may include canceled part numbers and replaced part numbers. Use NPR on SIS for information about canceled part numbers and replaced part numbers. NPR will provide the current part numbers for replaced parts.Note: This document can be used for well stimulation pump assembly part numbers: 434–9860, 434–9912, 434–9985, and 435–0063.Summary
This guideline provides the procedures that are necessary to inspect and determine the reusability of the gears and pinion shaft in the well stimulation pump. This guideline explains the procedure for inspecting and measuring individual components. Never install a part that is shown in this guideline as a part that cannot be used again. This guideline also contains the operational characteristics of gears in the drive train and can help to identify the gears that may be used again by illustrating the typical modes of failure but it cannot guarantee that any individual gear can be reused, there is always some risk of failure. Experience and careful inspection is the best guideline for proper usage of gears. This guideline contains the latest standards of engineering, which will help minimize owning and operating costs. This guideline defines broken or cracked pinion and/or gear teeth. Teeth on the bull gear or pinion gear break off and can get lodged in the gears and causes further damage leading to more broken teeth and eventual failure of the power end. The causes are as follows:
Uneven loading on between the gear sets
Debris in the lubrication
Excessive rod loading
Lack of lubrication
Excessive torsional vibrationImportant Safety Information
Illustration 1 g02139237Work safely. Most accidents that involve product operation, maintenance, and repair are caused by failure to observe basic sa
