Personal injury or death can result from sudden movement of the lift cylinders or the tilt cylinders. Do not stand under the work tool when you are testing or adjusting the lift cylinders or the tilt cylinders.Do not stand under the lift arms when you are testing or adjusting the lift cylinders or the tilt cylinders.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Park the machine on a smooth, level surface.
Prepare the machine for testing by completing the procedure that is specified in the Service Manual module Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" for the machine that is being serviced.
Make sure that the hydraulic oil pressure is relieved from the hydraulic system by completing the procedure that is specified in the Service Manual module Testing and Adjusting, "System Pressure - Release" for the machine that is being serviced.

(1) Manifold. (2) Diverter valve. (3) Bolts. (4) Tube assembly. (5) Hose. (6) Hose.
Disconnect tubing (4) from diverter valve (2). Install tool (B) to the tube assembly. Install tool (C) to the fitting on diverter valve (2).
Remove hose (5) from the accumulators to the ride control valve. Note: Plug the opening in the hose and the port on the diverter valve in order to eliminate any contamination.
Remove hose (6) from the ride control valve. Note: Plug the opening in the hose and the port on the diverter valve in order to eliminate any contamination.
Remove eight bolts (3) that hold the diverter valve (2) to the manifold (1). Remove diverter valve (2).

Install tooling (A) on manifold (1). Tooling (A) will be installed in two places on the manifold.
Tighten the eight bolts that retain flanges (8) to manifold (1).
Start the engine and warm the hydraulic oil to normal operating temperature.
Move the lift cylinder in and out for five repetitions in order to make sure that there is warm oil in the lift cylinder.
Fully extend the lift cylinders. Lower the bucket to approximately 1 m (3.3 ft) off the ground. Move the lift control lever to the HOLD position. Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.
Check the cylinder rod for movement. See Table 2 for the drift rate. The cylinder drift should be within the specifications in the table.
