Flash Program
Perform the following procedure in order to flash program the ECM. The ECM is flashed in order to upgrade the software. The new software will allow the ECM to communicate with the AccuGrade - Grade Control System. The Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) contains the program WinFlash. WinFlash is used in order to load software into the ECM. The following procedure is used in order to FLASH software into the ECM.
Procedure
Connect the 196-0055 Data Link Cable between the 171-4400 Communication Adapter or the 275-5120 Communication Adapter and the Cat ET.
Connect the 207-6845 Data Link Cable between the 171-4400 Communication Adapter and the diagnostic connector of the machine.

Use WinFlash in order to load the software. Refer to Table 1 for the part number of the software.Note: Flash programming is NOT allowed if the engine is running, or the machine is moving.Components (AccuGrade - Grade Control System) Flash Program
Perform the following procedure in order to flash program the system components. The system components are flashed in order to upgrade the software. The new software will allow the system components to communicate with the ECM and each other. The Cat ET contains the program WinFlash. WinFlash is used in order to load software into the system components. The following procedure is used in order to FLASH software into the system components.
Do not stop the process. The ECM will be damaged and need to be replaced.
Procedure
Connect the 196-0055 Data Link Cable between the 171-4400 Communication Adapter or the 275-5120 Communication Adapter and the Cat ET.
Connect the 207-6845 Data Link Cable between the 171-4400 Communication Adapter and the diagnostic connector of the machine.
Use WinFlash in order to load the software. Refer to Table 1 for the part number of the software.Note: Flash programming is NOT allowed if the engine is running, or the machine is moving.
