CAMSHAFT AS 2420675 - Caterpillar

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. Clean up fuel spills immediately.
Type 1
Park the machine on a level surface. Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.

Turn the priming pump plunger (1) counterclockwise in order to unlock the plunger. Manually pump the plunger. This will fill the engine fuel lines and the fuel filters with fuel.
As the air is purged from the fuel system, fuel pressure will increase. This will create resistance in the plunger. Continue to pump the plunger until a strong resistance is felt.
Push in the plunger. Turn the plunger clockwise in order to lock the plunger.
Start the engine.
If the engine starts but the engine runs rough, continue to run the engine at low idle until the engine runs smoothly.
If the engine does not start after several attempts, refer to Special instruction, SEHS9586, "3500 Electronic Unit Injection (EUI) Fuel Priming Procedure" or consult your Caterpillar dealer. Type 2
Park the machine on a level surface. Engage the parking brake and stop the engine. Note: The engine start switch must be in the OFF position in order to prime the fuel system.

Pull out on switch (2) in order to release the switch.
Hold switch (1) upward in order to activate the electric fuel priming pump. The priming pump will fill the engine fuel lines and the fuel filters with fuel. Note: Button (3) is the circuit breaker reset for the electric fuel priming pump. Push in the button in order to reset the circuit breaker. If the electrical system is working properly, the button will remain depressed. If the button does not remain depressed, check the electrical circuit for the electric fuel priming pump. Repair the electrical circuit, if necessary.
As the air is purged from the fuel system, fuel pressure will increase. Listen for the priming pump to come under load. Do not continue priming the fuel system after the priming pump is under load. Do not operate the pump for more than two minutes.
Start the engine.
If the engine starts but the engine runs rough, continue to run the engine at low idle until the engine runs smoothly.
If the engine does not start after several attempts, refer to Special instruction, SEHS9586, "3500 Electronic Unit Injection (EUI) Fuel Priming Procedure" or consult your Caterpillar dealer.
