Portable Particle Analyzer Procedure
When you use a portable particle counter, be sure to read and understand the Tool Operating Manual before you operate the analyzer.

(22) Fabricated suction tube (23) 220-8607 Fitting (24) 210-5530 Quick Connect Coupler (25) S O S Valve
Attach the fabricated particle counter "low pressure in" suction tube to the S O S valve (25) on the filter cart. Refer to Illustration 14.Note: The fabricated suction tube can be made with the parts listed in Table 3 and as shown in Illustration 14.
Attach the other end of the fabricated suction tube to the "low pressure in" port on the portable particle counter as called for in the Tool Operating Manual.

(26) 169-8373 Fluid Sampling Bottle (25) S O S valve
If you collect a bottle sample, use the same S O S valve (25) and a 169-8373 Fluid Sampling Bottle (26). Refer to Illustration 15.
Record an oil sample from the S O S valve (25) on the filter cart at the beginning of the filter cycle.Note: Filter cart filtration can be performed while the engine is running.
Know the maximum height and reach of your machine.Serious injury or death by electrocution can occur if machine or attachments are not kept a safe distance from electrical power lines. Keep distance at least 3 m (10 ft) plus additional 10 mm (0.4 inch) for each 1,000 volts over 50,000 volts.
Operate the filter cart until the portable particle analyzer indicates that the oil has reached an ISO level of 18/15 or cleaner.Note: A target ISO level does not exist for nonpressurized, non-filtered compartments at this time. ISO 18/15 is an acceptable contamination level for oil returned back into this type of compartment.
When the target ISO level or time interval has been met, close the air supply valve (20) and disconnect the air supply hose (21). Refer to Illustration 13.Note: Refer to ""Oil Compartment Filtration Times for 194-2897 Filter Cart"" at the end of this procedure, when a portable particle analyzer is not available.
Disconnect the filter cart discharge hose (17) from the return oil adapter (13). Refer to Illustration 11.
Repeat Step 7 for the opposite final drive.
Turn on the air supply to the vacuum transducer assembly (15). Refer to Illustration 9.
Quickly remove the differential suction adapter (18) and install the drain plug. Refer to Illustration 12.
Disconnect the suction hose (19) to the differential suction adapter (18). Refer to Illustration 12.
Turn off the air supply to the vacuum transducer (15). Refer to Illustration 9.
Rotate the final drive so the drain plug is in the UPWARD position.
Remove the return oil adapter (13). Refer to Illustration 6.
Reinstall the final drive drain plug.
Repeat steps 13 through 15 for the opposite final drive.
Remove the vacuum transducer assembly (15). Refer to Illustration 9.
Return the machine to service.Oil Compartment Filtration Times for 194-2897 Filter Cart
If an on-line, portable particle counter is not available to diagnose and track when the contaminant level has lowered to an acceptable point, refer to the equation.
