Locate gear motor (1) . The gear motor for the generator is located next to the fuel pump and connected to the generator set.
Remove hose (2) and hose (3) from the gear motor.
Assemble Tooling (B1) through Tooling (B10) .
Assemble Tooling (C) .

Fasten Tooling (C) to hose (3) .
Fasten one end of Tooling (B) to Tooling (C) .
Fasten the other end of Tooling (B) to Tooling (A) .
Fasten the other end of Tooling (A) to hose (2) .
Make sure that all of the connections are secure.
Secure Tooling (A) with tie strap (E) .
Make sure that all of the functions of the paver are turned to the OFF position. Place the propel lever in the NEUTRAL position.

Start the engine. Place throttle control switch (4) in high idle position (5) .
Measure the flow at Tooling (A) . The flow rate at Tooling (A) should be at least 39 L/min (10.3 US gpm). If the flow rate is less than 39 L/min (10.3 US gpm), the generator piston pump may be worn or damaged.
Stop the engine.
Disconnect the Tooling from hose (2) and hose (3) .
Reconnect hose (2) and hose (3) to the gear motor.
Make sure that the lines are secure and free from leaks.Adjusting the Displacement Limiter

Introduction
Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause serious injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the hydraulic system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
The generator piston pump contains a displacement limiter. This mechanical stop can limit the maximum displacement of the pump to any value from 75 percent of maximum to 100 percent of maximum. The displacement limiter is a mechanical stop for the displacement piston. The displacement limiter is set at the factory to 100 percent of maximum displacement. You will not need to adjust the displacement limiter unless you suspect that the displacement limiter is not set to the maximum output.Adjustment Procedure
Perform the following procedure before you perform the adjustment procedure that follows:
Park the machine on a level area that is clear from all equipment and material.
Verify that the service brake system and the parking brake system are in good working order.
Block the drive wheels in both directions.
Apply the parking brake.
Hot oil and components can cause personal
