Testing and Adjusting the Generator
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Introduction
Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause serious injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the hydraulic system.
The following testing and adjusting procedure will ensure that the generator is rotating at the correct rpm in order to obtain a frequency of approximately 61 1 hertz. There is a flow control valve in the generator control valve. The flow control valve determines the amount of oil flow that goes to the hydraulic motor. The rpm of the hydraulic motor will determine the frequency of the generator.Standard Tooling

Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.
Move the propulsion lever to the NEUTRAL position.
Rotate the speed dial to the MINIMUM position.
Move the parking brake switch to the ON position.
Move the screed lower switch to the DOWN position. Lower the screed to the ground.
If necessary, move the throttle control switch to the HIGH IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second. The engine speed will increase to 2310 rpm.
Monitor the hydraulic oil temperature with Tool (B) . Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches 40° 3°C (105° 5°F).
Move the generator switch to the ON position.
Open the generator outlet panel.
Shock/Electrocution Hazard! Do not work on this equipment unless you have read and understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manuals. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in serious injury or death.

Insert the probes from Tool (A) into the "230 V" receptacle (1) in order to measure the hertz and voltage performance of the generator.
Set the throttle to full speed.
Switch Tool (A) to voltage and check the voltage reading. Tool (A) should read approximately 230 volts.
Place a load onto the generator by either using a multiple light bank or a electric heater.
Switch Tool (A) to hertz and check the reading. Tool (A) should read approximately 61 1 hertz.Note:
