75C (4KK) TractorsTo service the belt or undercarriage components on the Challenger Ag Tractor, the tension cylinder rods must be retracted to relieve tension on the belt. This is accomplished by using hydraulic fluid, from the implement hydraulic system or an external pump, to push the rod into the cylinder, against the nitrogen charge and spring.
After the required service is complete, belt has been retensioned and the hydraulic lines are removed from the tension cylinders, residual oil remains in the tension cylinder cavity in the breather area.
There is a possibility that the residual oil will leak out of the breather, if the residual oil level is to high. THIS IS NOT A SIGN OF A PROBLEM! To avoid this situation, remove approximately one quart of oil from the tension cylinder through the breather port.
To remove excess oil from the tension cylinder, follow the steps listed below.1. Remove 4T4273 Breaker Relief Valve Group from the tension cylinder.2. Install 1U5718 Fluid Sampling Extraction Pump or similar tool into the breather port. Remove approximately one quart of oil. DO NOT remove more than one quart of oil from the tension cylinder. Some oil should be left inside the tension cylinder to provide adequate lubrication and to prevent rust from developing, on the inside of the cylinder.3. Remove extraction pump or similar tool from the breather port and install 4T4273 Breaker Relief Valve Group. Oil may still collect on the breather, even after removing oil from the tension cylinders. Again, this is not a problem.
