Connecting Cat ET and the Communication Adapter II

(4) 207-6845 Adapter Cable Assembly Note: Items (2), (3), and (4) are part of the 171-4400 Communication Adapter II Gp.Use the following procedure to connect Cat ET and the Communication Adapter II.
Turn the keyswitch to the OFF/RESET position. If the keyswitch is not placed in the OFF/RESET position, the engine may start.
Connect cable (2) between the "COMPUTER" end of communication adapter (3) and the RS232 serial port of PC (1).
Connect cable (4) between the "DATA LINK" end of communication adapter (3) and the diagnostic connector.
Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. If Cat ET and the communication adapter do not communicate with the ECM, refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Service Tool Will Not Communicate With ECM". Communicating with the Wireless Communication Adapter

Remove the electrical power from the ECM.
Ensure that the computer (5) has been correctly configured for the 261-4867 Card (PCMCIA). Verify that PC card (6) is installed in the computer's PCI expansion slot.
Connect cable (8) between communication radio (7) and the diagnostic connector.
Restore the electrical power to the ECM. If Cat ET and the communication radio do not communicate with the ECM, refer to troubleshooting without a diagnostic code Troubleshooting, "Electronic Service Tool Does Not Communicate". Support for Cat ET
