Use the following Steps to remove the recoil spring and the guide assembly.
Remove 2J-3505 Nuts (14), 9H-1031 Hard Washers (13), and Tooling (B) from the studs. Remove 6V-2168 Plate (17) and 5P-8613 Plate (10).
Extend 6V-0113 Double Acting Cylinder (9). Extend the rod 114.0 mm (4.50 inch) out of the cylinder.
Perform a measurement and make an adjustment to the 2J-3505 Nuts (14). All four corners of 6V-2168 Plate (17) should be equal distance from the face of the roller frame.
Use only enough pressure to extend the rod of the cylinder enough to compress the recoil spring so the recoil spring retainer can be turned. Close the 1S-8937 Needle Valve. Turn the valve of the pump to the Retract Cylinder Rod position.
Turn recoil spring retainer (4) while you retract the cylinder rod in 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) steps.
When the cylinder rod is near the fully retracted position, turn recoil spring retainer (4) clockwise to hold the recoil spring. Retract the cylinder rod.

Make an adjustment to 2J-3505 Nuts (14). Turn the nuts to the ends of 1M-6766 Studs (5). Extend the cylinder rod by the same distance.
Reinstall 6V-2168 plate (17), 9H-1031 Hard Washers (13), and 2J-3505 Full Nuts on the 1M-6766 Studs. Perform a measurement and adjust the 2J-3505 Nuts (14). All four corners of 6V-2168 Plate (17) should be equal in distance from the roller frame.
Use only enough pressure to extend the rod of the cylinder enough to compress the recoil spring so the recoil spring retainer can be turned. Close the 1S-8937 Needle Valve. Turn the valve of the pump to the Retract Cylinder Rod position.
Turn recoil spring retainer (4) counterclockwise in increments of 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) until the force of the spring iscompletely released.
Remove Tooling (A).

Fasten a suitable lifting device to recoil spring retainer (4) and remove the retainer. The weight of the retainer is approximately 70 kg (155 lb).

Remove guide assembly (18) from the roller frame.
If necessary, remove bearing (19) from guide assembly (18).

Do not damage the threads on the inside of the front track roller frame when the recoil spring is removed.
Install a bar (21) in recoil spring (20) and fasten a suitable lifting device to the bar. Lift the recoil spring and remove the recoil spring from the front track roller frame. The weight of the recoil spring is approximately 175 kg (386 lb). The weight of the recoil spring and support is approximately 210 kg (463 lb).
