This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI3015" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI3015" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

Some 776D Tractors and 777D Trucks were built with incorrect wheel bearing adjustment. This resulted in excessive preload to be placed on the wheel bearings. New wheel bearings need to be installed if the bearings were not adjusted before they reach 100 SMU.

2 - 5P1949 Cup-Roller Bearing2 - 1069823 Cone-Roller2 - 1200293 Cone-Roller2 - 1200295 Cup-Roller BearingQuantities per truck/tractor.
A 138-8636 Cone can be used if the standard is not available.
Action Required
If bearing re-adjustment has been performed before the truck/tractor has reached 100 smu, under either March 7, 199 Service Letter - PI3990 or standard warrangy, no further action is required.
If the truck or tractor has less than 100 SMU, perform PI3990, this Service Letter is not applicable.
If the March 7, 1997 Service Letter - PI3990 was implemented after the truck/tractor reached 100 SMU, or if truck has reached 100 SMU and never been adjusted, replace the inner and outer wheel bearing cones and cups do not apply service letter PI3990 after replacing bearings. See the attached procedure.
Owner Notification
U.S. and Canadian owners will receive the attached Owner Notification.
Service Claim Allowances
This is a 24-hour job for both wheel groups.

Rework Procedure
The Proper Wheel Bearing Adjustment Procedure To Be Used For Reassembly Is As Follows:
Before adjustment of the rear wheel bearings can be made, the parking brake and the service brake must be released. To release the brake, see the topic towing in the Systems Operation, Testing And Adjusting (Air System And Brakes). To release the parking brake, remove the bleed valve marked "P" and connect a manual or electric hydraulic pump to the opening. Operate the pump, to a maximum of 4150 KPA (600 psi) until the brake is
