This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI1243" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI1243" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
Problem
The internal rotation stops in the speed selector potentiometers may fail allowing an operator to dial through the minimum speed position to the maximum speed position on certain AP-1000 Asphalt Pavers.

Remove all 1G9663, 1G9664, 6R0087 and 6R0088 Potentiometers from Parts Stock.
Affected Product
Refer to pages 104-107.04 of the AP-1000 Asphalt Paver Parts Manual (KEBP0084-01) and to the AP-1000 Asphalt Paver Electrical System Schematic (KENR1848) for Illustrations for this rework.
1. Loosen the right-hand console speed selector control potentiometer 1P6515 Knob retaining setscrew. Remove the knob and retain.2. Remove the eight 2Y1020 Screws retaining the 6R0105 right-hand control console panel group. Retain the screws.3. Pull the panel out of the console to gain access to the back.4. Remove the 7C4550 Shaft Seal from the 6R0087 Potentiometer (1G9663 Potentiometer on later models).5. Remove the 6R0087 Potentiometer Assembly from the panel. Disconnect the potentiometer harness from the console electrical components. Note the electrical connection locations. The new potentiometer assembly will be installed in an identical manner.6. Install the new 1127515 Potentiometer Assembly in the panel. Retain with a new 7C4550 Shaft Seal. Tighten to a torque of 1.1 .1 N m (10 1 in.lb.).7. Attach harness wires to the correct terminal locations as follows: 8. Install the 6R0105 Panel into the console. Retain with the eight 2Y1020 Screws.9. Rotate the potentiometer shaft to the maximum "CCW" position. Install the 1P6515 Knob with the index mark aligned with the "Slow" position on the panel face. Tighten the retaining setscrew.10. Loosen the left-hand console speed selector control potentiometer 1P6515 Knob retaining setscrew. Remove the knob and retain.11. Remove the eight 2Y1020 Screws retaining the 6R0106 left-hand control console panel group. Retain the screws.12. Pull the panel out of the console to gain access to the back.13. Remove the 7C4550 Shaft Seal from the 6R0088 Potentiometer Assembly (1G9664 on later models).14. Remove the 6R0088 Potentiometer Assembly from the panel. Disconnect the potentiometer harness from the console electrical components. Note the electrical connection locations. The new potentiometer assembly will be installed in an identical manner.15.
